You are welcome here at Resilience Land …
A Personal Welcome from Angela and Rod – Fall 2022
We officially founded Resilience Land in 2020 as a place for people to think constructively about personal resilience. Our well-grounded belief is that, based on increased understanding, acceptance, and skill-building, individuals can equip themselves to deal more effectively with adversities that occur in their lives. In addition, by developing a special “vocabulary” for assessing the numerous factors that contribute to human resilience, people are better positioned to serve as a basis of support and strength to others.
Individuals can equip themselves to deal more effectively with adversities that occur in their lives.
As you take in the environs of Resilience Land, you’ll quickly discover that the “vocabulary” in play here derives from trees, from forests, and specifically from our own Resilience Tree™ that serves as such an excellent model for developing the resilience concept. Behind this connection is the notion that, at one, symbolic level, we all respond positively to the metaphor of the tree as an icon of resilience – think of the willow tree tree in the wind and the mighty oak in a storm. At another, more detailed level, the actual parts and functions of a tree, external and internal, lend themselves well to making sense of the multi-faceted complexities of resilience.
