What happens when you put a group of Super Chickens together – the ones selected for their high egg-laying productivity? Well, it turns out, at the end of the study, that all but three in the Super Chicken group had died, and productivity was in the tank. Among the things we can apply from the Super Chickens to the organizational setting are: 1) the importance of interpersonal connectedness and helpfulness, and 2) the creation of social capital that promotes group resilience during difficult times.
